Cross Country Skiing Sandy and I have been active in the Harrisburg, PA, based Kick 'n Gliders Nordic Ski Club for quite a few years. The club sponsors about a dozen weekend or week trips each year. The emphasis is strictly on cross-country skiing although some of the places we go also lend themselves to downhill skiing and/or snowshoeing. Most of the trips are in the northeast US, but in recent years we've planned a few excursions into Canada and out to the west, notably the Lake Tahoe, CA, region. Trying to keep prices within reason, we typically rent houses or condos and prepare our own meals or we take over a B&B and have them do the meals. We do our best to cater to all levels of skiers and to coach new skiers. Obviously, some venues have fewer skiing options for new skiers than do others.Sandy and I go on most of the weekend/week trips and are active in trip planning and leadership. In a typical year we ski between 200 and 300 miles. As a result of these trips, we have a pretty good knowledge of skiing facilities, both commercial and public, in the areas we ski. Specifically, we can provide detailed information about the following areas:
Don't hesitate to contact me if you want further information. Following are a few trip reports that appeared in the Kick 'n Gliders monthly newsletter, The Easy Glider, which I edited for a number of years. Enjoy! |
